Trade ministry departments to monitor prices

AMMAN — The Ministry of Industry and Trade on Sunday instructed its departments across the Kingdom to activate monitoring on all popular restaurants and sweets shops to ensure their abidance by the agreed upon prices.
The ministry stressed the importance of intensifying monitoring campaigns on markets to ensure the availability of commodities at reasonable prices.
Minister of Industry and Trade Amer Hadidi on Wednesday toured several markets in downtown Amman and the Wadi Naser area to check on the availability and prices of food items.
The Association of Restaurant and Sweets Shop Owners on Sunday stressed that its members will not raise the prices of meals at popular restaurants not subject to income and sales tax.
His Majesty King Abdullah on Sunday sent a cable to Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak expressing his condolences over the loss of life in a train accident in the south of Cairo on Saturday.
