Trade ministry intensifies monitoring of market prices

AMMAN — Minister of Industry and Trade Hatem Halawani on Wednesday said the ministry is undertaking various measures to ensure price stability in these crucial times.
A ministry statement quoted Halawani as saying that the ministry has begun intensifying its monitoring of changes in prices of various goods.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Hatem Halawani on Tuesday directed market monitors in the governorates to intensify their efforts, especially in the days leading up to the Eid Al Adha holiday.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour on Thursday called for intensifying the monitoring of markets and shops ahead of and during the fasting month of Ramadan.
Minister of Industry and Trade Hatem Halawani on Thursday said that the estimated cost of subsidising wheat and barley on the Treasury this year is around JD290 million, based on the current international prices.
