Travellers urged to avoid Mudawara crossing

AMMAN — The Residency and Borders Department on Tuesday requested overland travellers from Jordan to Saudi Arabia to use the Omari border crossing instead of the Mudawara crossing because heavy rain closed some of the roads leading to Mudawara, the Public Security Department (PSD) media centre reported.
The PSD urged travellers to heed these instructions in order to ensure their safety until further notice.
The Public Security Department (PSD) media centre said 11 security personnel sustained various injuries on Wednesday after a protester attempted to run them over.
Cadres from the Public Security Department (PSD) were deployed to customs centres at the Queen Alia International Airport on Saturday to fill in for the striking employees of the Jordan Customs Department (JCD), an informed source told The Jordan Times.
The border crossing to Saudi Arabia was closed on Sunday as a result of flash floods caused by heavy rain in Aqaba, 330km south of the capital.
