AMMAN — Two policemen were injured after allegedly being attacked by three people who were in a vehicle the police patrol personnel were trying to investigate, a Public Security Department statement said on Saturday.
An Irbid police patrol on Friday had suspicions about a vehicle with three men and a woman in it after the driver refused to pull over, so the personnel pursued and tried to stop them, the statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said.
The car’s passengers reportedly resisted the patrol personnel and attacked one policeman with a “blunt object”, forcing the other patrol members to open fire at them while waiting for backup to proceed to their arrest.
Two policemen were injured and transferred to hospital, where they were reported to be in fair condition, while two of the four suspects who received gunshots in their feet were also declared in fair condition.
