AMMAN — US Ambassador to Jordan Alice G. Wells visited Zarqa on Thursday and met senior officials including the governor, Adel Roussan, to discuss issues of common interest, as well as identify opportunities and mitigate challenges faced by the people of Zarqa, an embassy statement said.
Wells visited the King Abdullah II School for Excellence and participated in an English language Access Programme class with 20 students.
“These young women were remarkable.
I particularly enjoyed hearing how the Access Programme has not only helped them with English, but also helped them develop into strong, confident, examples to their peers,” the statement quoted her as saying.
The ambassador also participated in a round-table discussion with the MicroFund for Women, an NGO that empowers women through small loans, training, and mentoring to achieve prosperity.
