AMMAN — The US presented on Wednesday a mobile scanning system worth over $1.3 million to Jordan to be used at the King Hussein Bridge. This system will facilitate trade between Jordan and the West Bank by decreasing the inspection and processing time for shipments, while also helping increase Jordan’s capabilities to inspect vehicles and cargo, according to an embassy statement.

At a ceremony held at the bridge, US Ambassador Alice G. Wells said: “We are optimistic that the scanner will boost trade flows by as much as 30 per cent.” Public Works Minister Sami Halaseh and Trade Minister Maha Ali attended the ceremony. The donation was made possible under the US State Department’s Export Control and Related Border Security programme.
