AMMAN — Vegetable prices in the Amman Central Market on Sunday witnessed a huge drop that marked the lowest starting cost during Ramadan in the past 40 years.
Jordan Exporters and Producers Association for Fruits and Vegetables (JEPA) President Ahmad Yassin said the average price for tomatoes is JD0.07 per kilogramme, noting that prices usually go up during the first few days of Ramadan before they decrease later in the month.
Speculating on the reasons for the low prices, Yassin cited the shortage of refrigerated trucks available to transport agricultural products abroad as a possible cause.
