Warehouse sealed for storing spoiled food

AMMAN — Minister of Health Abdul Latif Wreikat on Sunday said the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), in cooperation with the Rangers, has seized 1,000 tonnes of spoiled food from a warehouse in the Sahab District, 25km east of the capital.
Wreikat, who is also JFDA chairman, said the warehouse was sealed and its management was referred to the prosecutor general.
A group of people have been referred to court for selling smuggled bodybuilding hormones and performance enhancers to teenagers in fitness clubs, Minister of Health Abdul Latif Wreikat said on Thursday.
More than 14 young men have died as a result of taking bodybuilding hormones and performance enhancers, while more cases could be uncovered soon, Health Minister Abdul Latif Wreikat said at a press conference on Wednesday.
The Rangers, in cooperation with health monitoring bodies, have seized 176 tonnes of spoiled food during inspection campaigns during Ramadan so far, the Public Security Department’s media office said on Sunday.
