AMMAN –– The government declared Wednesday a public holiday due to expected adverse weather conditions.

In view of the expected blizzard, all ministries and government departments will off for the day, according to a communiqué by Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.

The decision came as the Jordan Meteorological Department and the Civil Defence Department (CDD) warned of a polar front that started to impact the Kingdom Tuesday and is forecast to peak Wednesday and Thursday. CDD has urged the public not to leave their homes unless for emergency purposes.

The Ministry of Education also decided to suspend the Tawjihi, or the General Secondary Education Examination, on Wednesday and Thursday.
