AMMAN — Due to funding shortfalls, Syrian assistant teachers in Zaatari have been given advance notice that there will be no funding for their positions in the next school year, a UNICEF statement said on Wednesday.

UNICEF remains committed to supporting quality education in the camp, and is appealing for funds to ensure all essential services for children and women can continue, the statement said. Shortfall in funding stands at 43 per cent, and the number of teachers affected by the shortfall stands at 509 in Zaatari camp, according to UNICEF Jordan.
