Zarqa public hospital announces new psych-ward, specialised departments

AMMAN — Director of Zarqa Governmental Hospital Abdel Razzaq Khoshman on Sunday said that the hospital, in the next two months, will open a specialised psychiatry ward with a capacity of 50 patients, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He also said that 20 nurses were trained to deal with the patients who will be treated in the department, which is the first of its kind in any Jordanian public hospital.

The ward will be opened before the end of year, in cooperation with the Jordan National Red Crescent Society and a European charity foundation, which will help equip the department, according to Khoshman.

He also added that JD20 million was allocated by Zarqa Governorate’s council to establish a cardiac and arteries catheterisation department at the hospital. Additionally, a thalassaemia and haemophilia department, treating 300 patients was opened, the director said.

Khoshman also said that, in 2018, 12,000 surgeries were performed at the hospital.
