AMMAN — The Jordan 4x4 Championship was thrown wide open at the weekend following an enthralling second round held at Ghamadan Park on Friday, according to the Jordan Motorsport Media Service. After a stewards enquiry the official results were released late Monday.

With just one round remaining, Hisham Ibrahim moved to the top of the championship standings, with 42 points, after finishing third on the day with Tarek Sweiss as his co-driver. That finish, added to his second placed finish in the opening round, sees him take a 12-point lead going into the final round, which will take place on November 2.

His closest rival is Malek Jubran (30), who picked up 12 points at the weekend, with round one winner, Khaled Quran (27), slipping back to third in the chase after failing to finish with a time.

Round two was won by Faris Nafash (27), who jumps to joint third with Ibrahim on the championship table, while Saif Rumman (24) goes fifth after his second-placed finish. Anything can happen in the final round and, with 25 points available to the winner, any one of eight drivers are still in with the chance of taking the title.
