AMMAN — Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and a Thai delegation of senators on Tuesday met to discuss bilateral relations and the means to enhance them at the economic, educational and touristic levels, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the meeting, Razzaz pointed out Jordan’s “many strengths” in the pharmaceutical, agricultural and chemical industries, in addition to having access to the US market thanks to the free trade agreement between Amman and Washington.

The head of the delegation expressed his country’s keenness to enhance ties with Jordan, stressing that the legislation council will support endeavours to boost cooperation between Amman and Bangkok.

Acting senate president, Marouf Bakhit also met with the delegates over ways to enhance economic and investment cooperation.

Bakhit called for further joint investment and economic partnerships between the two countries, saying that the Kingdom has several investment opportunities, mainly in the public transport, ICT, medical tourism and renewable energy sectors.

Bakhit also spoke about regional conditions and added that the only way to reach peace and end conflict in the Middle East is to have a just solution to the Palestinian issue that guarantees the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Second deputy Lower House speaker MP, Suleiman Zaben, met with the delegates over various international developments, especially those related to the Palestinian issue and the Syrian crisis, Petra added.

The head of the Thai delegation praised Jordan’s role in hosting refugees from neighbouring countries despite the Kingdom’s limited resources.
