A timely dose of guidance

Mar 16,2020 - Last updated at Mar 16,2020

Directly after returning to the Kingdom, His Majesty King Abdullah chaired a meeting on developments related to the coronavirus on Sunday, bringing more to the table in leading the efforts to arrest the spread of the virus and add momentum to the government’s drive to ward off the pandemic.

During the meeting, His Majesty urged concerned entities to persist in close cooperation and coordination to deal with the latest developments related to COVID-19.

His Majesty reiterated that the educational process must continue uninterrupted and stressed the need to continuously evaluate the remote learning system in place for school and university students.

Regarding basic supplies and foodstuffs, the King called for a clear plan on strategic reserves, in case of disruption to international trade and border closures.

King Abdullah underscored that the wellbeing of Jordanians is his utmost priority.

Following up on the health sector’s measures to counter the spread of the virus, His Majesty chaired another meeting on Monday, stressing the importance of utilising all resources to ensure the wellbeing of Jordanians.

Recognising the gravitas of the moment and rising to the occasion, the Jordanian government has put in place a slew of preventive measures, which — though hard and painstaking — are effective and can reap healthy rewards.

As coronavirus uncertainties blanket the world, the Kingdom’s health machinery is in full swing to curb the virus’ spread.

These are times to demonstrate good citizenship by following the instructions of health authorities, keeping in mind the collective societal good.

The King’s timely intervention will no doubt raise the morale of the nation’s health cadres on the forefront of this vital battle.

In desperate times, the public looks to its leaders, and as always Jordanians draw courage from their leadership’s resolve, clear directives and resoluteness in the face of adversity.
