Stabbing the stability!

Nov 10,2019 - Last updated at Nov 10,2019

The stabbing incident of a group of foreign tourists in Jerash, which was committed a few days ago with all its sights and grief details, violates the rules of tact and violates the Jordanian hospitality assets that we have historically sung.

Nevertheless, the bravery presented by the knights of the Public Security Department (PSD), particularly the tourist police, in dealing with the incident, always makes it possible for the heroes to be able to proudly write the remaining lines of stories of glory, courage and heroism.

Those treacherous stabs could have been fatal and deadly, had the criminal been alone with the victims. However, the vigilance and courage of the police accompanying the tourists have mitigated the huge loss that could have a multiplier and deeper impact on Jordan's image in the international media. Members of the PSD shared the pain of the stabbing and the tingling of denial with Jordan's guests. Two security men were stabbed and required urgent surgical intervention. The stabs were immersed in their bodies as they protected Jordan's guests and prevented the criminal from killing innocent people.

Those who thought they would shake the security system in Jordan were disappointed by such a despicable and cowardly act. Those who were betting that they could steal the joy of the Jordanians were disappointed by the release of Heba Labadi and Abdel Rahman Marei from Israeli prisons with the great efforts of the Jordanian leadership. As much as the sorrow we experienced in the stabbing incident was great, our joy was greater as we greeted our kids with trill, songs and flowers.

The official and popular reaction of Jordanians, who strongly condemned this cowardly act, was the biggest response to those who were lurking by its security and stability. Social media and news sites which have been full by all kinds of condemnation of this criminal act, have shown unprecedented support for the security services. Jordanians’ reaction to this attack in Jerash unanimously shows that Jordan's security and stability is ahead of any other priority in the lives of Jordanians.

Dreamers waited for this incident to shake the image of confidence in Jordan. They expected embassies of friendly countries to issue warning statements to their nationals in Jordan. However, contrary to their wishes, the embassies issued statements defending Jordan, and even more, regarded the Jerash incident as an "individual act", and declared its confidence in Jordan's measures in dealing with the incident and the security stability enjoyed by Jordan in the region.

While security authorities were dealing professionally with the Jerash incident, three cruise ships carrying 2,244 tourists of various nationalities arrived last Thursday in Aqaba Port to visit the city, Wadi Rum and Petra. In short, this active tourist movement in south of Jordan is a clear indication of the level of confidence in Jordan and its security system.

Once again, he is a dreamer who thinks security in Jordan is shaky. The security system has successfully tested its effectiveness during the eight years of the so-called Arab Spring. During the time of Arab Spring, the security services have engaged in the broadest civilised engagement with tens of hundreds of events, rallies, demonstrations and all forms of political expression, all of which coincided with pressure on Jordan, internally and externally, during which the security services did not have any records of targeting the lives of innocent citizens!

At the end, this attack will not be the last stab to Jordan. Throughout its political history, Jordan was subjected to such stabs from close and far parties, each time it emerged more steadfast and stronger. Not surprisingly, this steadfastness and stability always need sacrifices from members of the security services. Since its establishment, the PSD has proudly provided 460 martyrs of various ranks in the fight against crime, terrorism and drugs.
