Why Trump enjoys support

Jan 17,2016 - Last updated at Jan 17,2016

Leading Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is surprising most of his friends and critics alike for still leading the pack of other Republican candidates to the White House even though much of what he says or calls for is ridiculous, to say the least.

Still, Trump continues to draw huge crowds wherever he goes to deliver his sermons on his country’s domestic or international policies, and his uttering indefensible statements still resonates widely among many Americans.

Trump’s style is abrasive, bullish and arrogant; most of his rivals are not left unscathed.

There must be a reason for Trump being a popular candidate.

For starters, Americans are eager to have a leader in the White House who talks and acts as a strong president and will restore their country its stature and the respect of the international community, and not a smooth talker who speaks and acts as a Quaker.

President Barack Obama disappointed many Americans for having been too soft, vacillating and not assertive enough in the face of Russia’s leader Vladimir Putin.

Obama never understood this problem with his leadership, preferring, instead, to act as a peaceful professor who prefers to argue his way through international conflicts, rather than putting up a fight, at least once in a while, to demonstrate strength.

Many US citizens feel that they have been humiliated by Russia over many regional and international issues.

It seems that many Americans want a strong leadership that will ensure that other mighty nations restore fear and respect them.

Trump talks and acts as one who will be that, even though he had strong words of praise for the Russian president for being strong and clear-minded.

The wishy-washy policies of the US over the past seven years left many Americans wondering why the once great American ship is left without a captain who knows how to steer it through turbulent waters.

This could explain at least in part why Trump continues to enjoy wide support.
