AMMAN — President of the Jordan Red Crescent Society (JRCS) Mohammad Hadid on Thursday said that "humanity is dying after international humanitarian law was neglected".

Hadid pointed to multiple violations committed against defenceless Palestinian civilians in Gaza who should be protected under international humanitarian law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Hadid’s remarks came during a symposium, organised by JRCS, in cooperation with the National Committee of International Humanitarian Law, titled: "Humanity is in Danger".

Hadid highlighted the necessity of providing protection for Palestinian civilians, including children, women, the elderly, and medical teams, to facilitate providing healthcare to people in need amid the current war on the Gaza Strip.

During the event, a committee was announced, headed by Hadid and four members, with the aim of documenting Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law.

The committee was formed upon JRCS's proposal at the level of the Islamic Committee of the International Crescent, one of the institutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
