‘Only 16 institutional violations’ recorded in February — Audit Bureau

AMMAN — Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Sami Daoud on Monday announced the results of the monthly revision of violations documented by the Audit Bureau for February, in accordance with the new revision mechanism being used since the beginning of the year. 

Daoud, who heads the team designated to rectify violations, said that only 16 violations were recorded regarding 12 agencies out of 228 ministries, institutions and public departments, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister noted that this decrease in the number of violations is "indicative of the soundness of measures taken by the government in addressing violations recorded by the Audit Bureau, and of the effectiveness of the new mechanism, which rectifies violations on a monthly basis without accumulating them". 

He pointed to the "effectiveness of internal regulatory apparatuses" at ministries and institutions, which have contributed to limiting the number of violations.

Daoud said that two violations were referred to the Jordan Anti-Corruption Commission, adding that the first is related to a tender for the “Street Furniture” project in the Greater Amman Municipality.

The second is related to the implementation of the first stage of the Salt Industrial Estate, the minister said, adding that the two violations were referred by the Minister of Public Works and Housing and the mayor of Amman.

Daoud also pointed to three violations related to retrieving unduly spent money, while the others included administrative violations that were rectified.

The minister affirmed that his team continues to conduct monthly revisions and submit periodic reports to the prime minister and the Cabinet, Petra reported.
