AMMAN — Eighteen academics from Yarmouk University in Irbid have been named among the world’s most influential scientists, according to the 2025 global database released by Stanford University in collaboration with international publisher Elsevier.
The number of Yarmouk University researchers listed among the top 2 per cent of scientists globally has doubled from nine in the previous year to eighteen in the current edition, the Jordan news agency, Petra, reported.
The rankings are based on two key criteria: overall career-long impact and research performance over the past year.
Those recognised for their career-long contributions include Muwaffaq Emoush, Idris Momani, Alaa Jabali the late Dr Mohammad Daradkeh, Bilal Abdul Ghani, Mohammad Rifai Muawiya Khattab, Yousef Wardat and Eyad Abu Doush.
The list also features Hazem Shakhatra, Rasmiyah Alamar, Mohammad Barmawi, Abdul Karim Omari, Mohammad Ayasrah, Zaid Taani, Amjad Fahoum, Mahmoud Qudah and Hashem Matarneh.
This international recognition highlights Yarmouk University’s commitment to strengthening its research standing both regionally and globally, Petra said.
In line with this vision, the university introduced revised guidelines last year for research publication incentives, aimed at encouraging both students and academics to increase the volume and quality of their scholarly output, and to publish in top-tier international journals, according to Petra.
