ACI exports hit JD7.577b in 2022

AMMAN — Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) achieved "remarkable growth" in 2022 when compared with the previous year, driven by the broad increase in all sub-sector exports, statistics showed on Monday.

The chamber's exports increased to JD7.577 billion in 2022, compared with JD5.296 billion in 2021, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, citing recent statistics from the ACI. 

Export growth has been achieved in 10 sub-sectors ranging from a 4 per cent growth in the leather industry, to an 89 per cent uptick in mining industry exports.

The US, India, Saudi Arabia and Iraq accounted for over half of ACI’s export recipients in 2022, with a combined value of ACI exports to these countries measuring JD3.936 billion, the data showed.

ACI exports to India increased by 61 per cent in 2022, valuing around JD1.484 billion, compared with JD921 million in 2021, making India the top recipient of ACI exports.

The chamber’s exports to the US decreased by 7 per cent to a value of JD978 million in 2022, compared with JD1.048 billion in 2021.

ACI exports to Saudi Arabia increased by 31 per cent in 2022, reaching JD759 million, compared with JD581 million in 2021.

The chamber's exports to the Iraqi market increased by 28 per cent in the last year, standing at JD715 million, compared with JD559 million in 2021.

The chamber’s exports to Syria marked a 35 per cent increase to reach around JD128 million, compared with JD949 million in 2021.

The ACI exports to Palestine increased by 49 per cent in 2022 to some JD355 million, compared with JD238 million in 2021.

ACI exports reached 148 markets around the world in 2022, with Arab markets accounting for 40.3 per cent of ACI exports at JD3.1 billion. This figure constitutes a growth rate of 32.7 per cent compared with 2021.

The chamber's exports to many countries dropped in 2021, including Palestine, the United Arab Emirates, China, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Italy, Bahrain and Tunisia.

The chamber’s mining industries exports topped the sub-sectors at JD2.684 billion; comprising 35.4 per cent of the total ACI exports in 2022.

Exports of chemicals and cosmetics ranked second at JD1.470 billion, followed by engineering at JD909 million, agricultural products and foodstuff at JD700 million and medical supplies at JD644 million.
