AMMAN — The General Assembly of the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI), during its annual meeting, examined the government’s decision to reduce tariffs and rejected any reductions that could threaten the local industrial sector.

During the meeting, the board discussed the implications of applying the new electricity tariff to the industrial sector as well as possible ways to support the sector’s energy profile and optimise gas delivery, ensuring that the gas requirements are met.

The chamber also approved the Board of Directors’ 2022 Financial and Administrative Report, and agreed to authorise the board to proceed with establishing an exhibition venue.

In an ACI statement issued on Saturday, cited by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, ACI President Fathi Jaghbir said that the board aims to include the General Assembly in all decisions and activities concerning the latest developments in the industrial sector.

The ACI president added that the chamber, in cooperation with the Jordan Employment Project, established an employment unit in 2022 to connect industrial companies with qualified and trained potential employees.

Jaghbir also said that last year, ACI signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation to launch an electronic internationalisation initiative. The initiative aims to improve online marketing and sales readiness for Jordanian factories.
