AMMAN — The Agricultural Credit Corporation (ACC) granted agricultural loans worth some JD24 million during the first five months of 2026, benefiting 4,690 farmers under its annual lending plan, according to a report cited by Al Mamlaka TV.
The report showed that the corporation's 2026 lending plan totals JD70 million, with lending activity reaching 35 per cent of the target by the end of May.
Loan repayments collected during the same period also amounted to JD24 million, according to the report.
In the area of social protection, the ACC said that its loan portfolio insured against death reached JD140 million, covering nearly 28,000 beneficiaries.
Compensation payments totalling JD286,000 were disbursed to 64 borrowers through the Death Assistance Fund, while 27 beneficiaries received a combined JD11,000 from the Humanitarian Exemption Fund for cases not covered by the mutual assistance programme.
The corporation also reported progress in its digital transformation efforts, including the launch of a new computerised system and integrated electronic services linked to partner institutions.
More than 4,700 borrowers have benefited from the new services, with additional digital services currently under development.
The report also said that the corporation also signed an addendum to an agreement with the Ministry of Labour to support vocational education and youth empowerment through interest-free loans of up to JD15,000.
ACC also signed a JD1 million agreement with the Ministry of Health for the Healthy Villages Project, in addition to memorandums of understanding with the Specific Union of Women Farmers and an agreement with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation under the Rural Economic Growth and Employment Project (REGEP).
In 2025, the ACC financed more than 12,880 farmers and investors, with total lending reaching JD64 million, up JD7 million from 2024.
Of this amount, around JD9 million was provided through Islamic financing, while some JD11 million was allocated as interest-free loans supporting various agricultural activities.
