Arab conference on ‘hearing health’ opens

AMMAN — Deputising for HRH Princess Muna, Health Minister Mahmoud Sheyyab on Thursday inaugurated the “Arab Hearing Health Conference”, held by the Arab Academy of Audiovestibulogy in cooperation with the Crown Prince Foundation’s initiative “Hearing without Borders”.

The three-day conference is being held at the Dead Sea also in cooperation with the German University of Lübeck and Al Ahliyya Amman University, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The chairman of the Arab academy, Khalid Abd Al Hadi, said more than 650 million people in the world suffer from hearing difficulties, citing World Health Organisation figures. The conference consists of 70 lectures delivered by specialists from Germany, the US, Jordan, Austria, the UK, Malaysia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Morocco, according to Petra.
