AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have foiled an attempt to smuggle 500,000 narcotic pills through the Jaber border crossing, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said on Wednesday.
Personnel in AND, security agencies and the Jordan Customs Department received a tip-off about an attempt to smuggle the drugs in a cargo truck, the spokesperson said, as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Further investigations resulted in identifying the vehicle once it entered the border crossing, where security agents searched it and found the pills hidden in a machine on board the truck. The PSD official noted that investigation was still ongoing.
