AMMAN — Around 60 rumours were spread surrounding the murder of the Jordanian child, Nibal, in Zarqa, head of the Anti-Cybercrime Unit Lt. Col. Raed Rawashdeh said on Tuesday.

During a dialogue session at the Hashemite University’s Queen Rania Faculty for Childhood, he called for spreading the “Fatabayano” (“seek the truth” in English) initiative that aims at facing up to rumours and false information and raising the awareness against the dangers of cybercrime, blackmail, sexual exploitation and extremism, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

University President Kamal Eddin Bani Hani said that all users of social media outlets know that technical developments made it easier for the public to be victims of misinformation and deception, according to Petra.
