AMMAN — The Jordan Integrity and Anti-Corruption Commission (JIACC) on Wednesday held an awareness session at the Development and Employment Fund (DEF) on the dangers of "wasta" (favouritism) and its negative impacts on the society.

DEF Director General Mansour Wreikat highlighted the importance of holding events that help raise the awareness of employees at ministries and public departments about the risks of wasta and the integral role of all official institutions in fighting wasta, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Wreikat said that "clear work procedures" on provided services would prevent citizens from resorting to wasta. JIACC representative Riad Abu Windi said that the meeting is part of a campaign implemented by the commission to raise awareness of the risks of wasta which is prohibited by law.
