AMMAN — Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa on Saturday visited a number of charity organisations and the residences of underprivileged families in Mafraq, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Accompanied by the Governor of Mafraq Salman Najada, Bani Mustafa was briefed on the work of charities, and the needs of underprivileged families in Mafraq.

Meeting with MPs Ismail Mashaqbeh, Reem Abu Al Eis, Nawaf Khawaldeh and Hadia Sarhan, Bani Mustafa stressed that this visit comes in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah to identify and meet the needs of people.

Given the large numbers of refugees in Mafraq, the governorate receives special attention from the Ministry of Social Development, she said, noting that work is underway to increase the number of beneficiaries covered by the National Aid Fund.

In this regard, Bani Mustafa affirmed the ministry is in the process of restoring 100 homes for underprivileged families in Mafraq, in cooperation with the Norwegian Council, noting that the programme for building, maintaining and purchasing housing units in the Ministry of Social Development is a priority programme, whose work is implemented without delay.

The ministry also endeavours to render families as productive and self-reliant, indicating that it provides training courses for target groups to manage their production projects efficiently and successfully.

Bani Mustafa toured the Deaf and Mute Charity Association, Child Welfare Association, Princess Basma Association for Social Development in Eastern Badia, in which she was briefed on their work.
