AMMAN — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken voiced Washington's concern about the injury of seven Jordanian field hospital personnel in Gaza as a result of the Israeli bombing of the strip.

During a telephone call with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Ayman Safadi, Blinken stressed that both medical personnel and civilians need to be protected, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The US secretary also stressed the importance of the role played by Jordan in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

He affirmed his country's commitment to achieving lasting Mideast peace based on the two-state solution.

The two top diplomats also discussed efforts to bring "sufficient and sustainable" humanitarian aid into Gaza, including fuel, water, food and medicines.

Safadi condemned Israel's blocking of humanitarian aid to Gaza as "flagrant violation of the international law", calling on Israel to stop its lawbreaking acts and abide by UN resolutions.
