AMMAN — Police are treating the death of a man whose body was found dangling from a tree in Jerash Governorate on Tuesday as accidental, an official source said.

The victim, in his 20s, was found hanging from a tree in Kitta town in Jerash, some 48km north of Amman, with a plastic hose wrapped around his neck, Public Security Department Spokesperson Maj. Amer Sartawi told The Jordan Times.

“At this time foul play is ruled out and we are treating this incident as accidental or that the man took his own life,” Sartawi said.

The official said investigators are questioning the victim’s family and friends to learn more about the incident.

The victim’s body was sent to the National Institute of Forensic Medicine where an autopsy is expected to be performed on Wednesday, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
