AMMAN — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on Monday said that the price of Brent oil during the third week of September witnessed a 1.3 per cent increase compared with the second week.

The price of a barrel of crude Brent oil rose from $77.8 in the second week, to $78.8 in the third week, according to a ministry statement.

The price of one tonne of unleaded 90-octane gasoline increased from $738.8 in the second week to $742.1 the following week, marking a 0.5 per cent hike, the ministry said.

Unleaded 95-octane gasoline also increased in price by 1.1 per cent, from $757.8 in the second week to $766 in the third week, while the diesel price remained unchanged.

The price of one tonne of kerosene rose slightly from $719.5 to $720.4, a hike of 0.1 per cent.

The ministry began announcing the prices in international markets on a weekly basis as of July 1, to acquaint citizens with global price fluctuations.

Prices of oil derivatives in the local market are calculated based on international prices, with the addition of other costs such as shipment, handling and taxes.
