By JT - Nov 30,2016 - Last updated at Nov 30,2016

AMMAN — The Centre for Defending Freedom of Journalists (CDFJ) on Wednesday stressed it will continue working for media freedom in the Arab world.

Marking the 18th anniversary of its establishment, CDFJ noted that the challenges of and violations against the media in the Arab world have increased, at a time Arab journalists were expecting their rights to become more guaranteed, according to a CDFJ statement.

In 2011, CDFJ established “Sanad”, a network of media freedom defenders, whose reports in four years across the Arab world recorded 12,597 violations against the media, 236 murders of journalists and 116 cases of failed assassinations against journalists.
