AMMAN — HRH Prince Hassan, president of the Arab Thought Forum (ATF), on Sunday said that the coronavirus pandemic is one of the worst disasters to strike the world and threaten human existence, deeming it imperative to pay attention to the humanitarian and moral responsibility and work hand in hand to overcome the crisis.

In a virtual lecture delivered to participants in the 61st Command and Staff Course, the prince said that facing this pandemic requires strengthening community protection, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The prince also called for the reliance on a comprehensive analytical classification approach that is inclusive of everyone and is based on documented information pertaining to the social, demographic, health, economic and other dimensions.

He highlighted the significance of proactive thinking to tackle different disasters and crises and manage them by devising an early warning system "not only to confront them and counter their effects, but to prevent their reoccurring”.

The establishment of a comprehensive national and regional information system that provides integrated data on water, energy and food issues are required to cover basic dimensions with knowledge, he said, adding that said system must be outlined by a vision that imagines society utilising a comprehensive developmental perspective and a culture of sustainability.

Discussing development and its importance in Jordan, the prince noted that managing resources to serve public interest, investing in human capital is key to growth.
