AMMAN — The number of financial transactions carried out via e-payment in Jordan has gone up by 26 per cent  in the first half of 2018, compared to the figure recorded in the same period last year , according to a statement of  Network International.

The statement by the company which provides e-payment solutions in the MENA region said the use of credit cards issued by Jordanian banks has risen by 24 per cent.

Also, the use of international credit cards that are issued by non-Jordanian banks has gone up by 29 per cent, according to the statement.

The figures indicate that more and more people are shifting their attention towards e-payment in the country, in lieu of conventional cash payment.

The increasing tendency reflects further awareness of the use of e-payment solutions. It also indicates that users feel that e-payment solutions are safe, and they are less worried that such solutions could lead to the disclosure of their data, said the statement.

In the statement, Amjad Al Sadeq, chief executive officer of Network International Jordan, applauded these results, saying they indicate that “more Jordanians as well as non-Jordanian residents and visitors are opting for e-payment solutions”.

This will prompt Network International Jordan to work further to boost and facilitate its e-payment solutions, he noted.
