AMMAN — Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Nasser Shraideh on Monday said that the Economic Modernisation Vision is a roadmap for the upcoming 10 years to allow the country to avail all economic potential and optimise the competitive advantages to build on the promising sectors and satisfy the objectives and indicators required for the vision.

Highlighting the ministry's efforts to realise the vision, Shraideh said that during the next months, the first executive plan, which needs two to three years to be implemented, will be set, noting that this step will be followed by mobilising support, either through the capital spending or foreign assistance.

Contacts were made with donors and financers who are waiting for the details of the vision, Shraideh said, noting that the ministry will draw up the executive plan for the first two years to ensure maximal assistance.

He added that the vision emphasises a “real partnership” with the private sector, which relies on pushing domestic or foreign investment towards quality projects that can create economic activity and an added value to the national economy, as well as knowledge and technology transfer projects, and projects that could introduce new markets and create jobs.

On the sidelines of the launching of the Economic Modernisation Vision, Minister of Tourism Nayef Fayez said that the vision is also based on the Jordan National Tourism Strategy 2021-2025, which focuses on Jordan's tourism force factors, notably diverse tourism products.

He pointed out that investment in the Kingdom's tourism sector "has not stopped" despite the repercussions of the pandemic.

The vision also seeks to maximise public-private sectors partnership, he added, highlighting the ministry's keenness to achieve this objective.
