AMMAN — The Indonesian embassy announced recently in a statement the date of the 2018 Indonesian Exposure (IndoExpo) in Amman.

The expo will run from September 25 29 and is meant to promote various sectors of cooperation and culture, the Indonesian Ambassador Andy Rachmianto confirmed in the statement.

The IndoExpo will begin with a gala dinner hosted by the ambassador on September 25. According to the statement, as many as 200 businessmen and prominent figures from Jordan, Palestine and Indonesia, will be participating in the event. It will feature a set of Indonesian cultural performances, such as Angklung, (Indonesian traditional dance) and a Muslim fashion show.

The next day a business forum on trade and investment will commence, which will focus on increasing the trade and investment volume between Indonesia and Jordan. According to the embassy’s statement, the forum will feature a presentation by a representative from Indonesia’s ministry of trade and investment coordinating board on the forthcoming annual Trade-Expo Indonesia (TEI) which will be held in Tangerang, Indonesia, in October.

“Last year, we succeeded to bring more than 90 businessmen from Jordan and Palestine to the TEI 2017 with the total business transaction registering about $22 million. We are expecting more Jordanian and Palestinian businessmen will be participating again in TEI 2018 and making a higher transaction value,” said Rachmianto in the statement.

The IndoExpo will also delve into the tourism and creative economy sectors. The two sectors have become priorities in ensuring the success of Indonesia’s economic development, according to the release. Representatives from the Indonesian ministry of tourism and Indonesian creative economy agency will participate in the event and deliver presentations to promote cooperation in the two areas.

The Indonesian government is planning to boost its tourism industry and is targeting 20 million inbound tourists by 2019. To showcase the richness of Indonesian culture, the expo will bring together several Indonesian traditional dancers to perform during the business forum on September 27.

According to the statement, the IndoExpo will be concluded by an Indonesian culinary festival at the Enso Restaurant in Amman, which will run from September 27 29. The restaurant will offer a variety of authentic Indonesian foods, cooked by an Indonesian chef. During the event, the restaurant will be decorated in Indonesian style. “Therefore customers can not only experience the taste of Indonesian foods but also the ambience of being in Indonesia.” The statement said.
