Flights resumption banks on epidemiological situation — regulator

By JT - Aug 25,2020 - Last updated at Aug 25,2020

AMMAN — The resumption of international flights is determined by the epidemiological situation in other countries and should be similar to the Kingdom’s situation or poses less risk, Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) Chief Commissioner Captain Haitham Misto said on Tuesday.

Misto said that the number of Jordanians residing in any country is one of the determining factors for resuming flights, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The priorities include the Kingdom’s epidemiological situation, health and safety of citizens and the return of Jordanian expatriates abroad, he added.

The official noted that the concerned authorities are mulling the resumption of regular flights, a step, which he stressed, "must be studied at all levels and a risk that must be well-calculated", Petra reported.

The principle is the gradual reopening and resumption of flights with certain countries under strict measures, notably allowing specific numbers of passengers, adhering to health perquisites, he said.
