AMMAN — The Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the French embassy on Sunday signed an agreement under which the latter will fund water projects in the northern region.
The 22.8-million-euro (around JD20.9 million) agreement is aimed at improving water services due to the influx of Syrian refugees.
Water Minister Hazem Nasser said the agreement will improve services of the Yarmouk Water Company, reduce the amounts of lost water, develop employee abilities and provide water pumps for some wells.
Nasser said French support for the water sector has reached 135 million euros (around JD124 million).
French Ambassador to Jordan Caroline Dumas stressed the importance of supporting the sector and exchanging expertise.
