AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality on Saturday participated in the conclusion of the Euro-Mediterranean Conference, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh said that the influx of refugees and immigrants, currently amounting to 3,500,000 individuals from neighbouring Arab countries, puts a strain on the Kingdom’s sectors, most notably education, health, public transportation and environment.
The government’s action plan focuses on reducing the pressure on the Kingdom’s budget and infrastructure as well as providing services for all refugees, Shawarbeh added.
The mayor also noted that Amman is “one of the most prosperous cities in the Middle East and is considered the political, economic and cultural hub of Jordan”, in which 42 per cent of the population reside. November 28, 2020 marks the 25th anniversary of the Barcelona Process, which was launched in 1995 to foster a Euro-Mediterranean partnership, Petra reported.
