AMMAN — The Goodwill Campaign, a Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development initiative, on Wednesday provided urgent in-kind assistance to underprivileged families in Msheirfeh Village in Jerash.

A total of 60 families benefited from the aid that included food parcels, blankets, heaters and clothes, as well as free coupons for fuel. The assistance is part of the campaign’s winter aid, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

HRH Princess Basma, president of the Goodwill Campaign’s higher committee, said that the campaign teams and partners exert all efforts to improve the living conditions of underprivileged families across the Kingdom.

The Princess stressed that the campaign is going forward with its various programmes to serve targeted classes, as part of its humanitarian mandate to alleviate difficult living and economic conditions of these segments and to contribute to enhancing the socioeconomic development.

She noted that the campaign is currently considering the implementation of home-based projects to help local women in the targeted areas to change their families from aid recipients to productive and self-reliant households.

The Princess also listened to local residents’ demands, which focused on the need for jobs, mainly for women, and improving the level of health services in the village.

Princess Basma also visited several houses of needy families that suffer from hard living conditions and have members with diseases, and personally presented assistance to them.

She stressed that the campaign would follow up on their needs related to house maintenance, medical care and education opportunities.

Beneficiaries of the campaign have been chosen in cooperation between the Princess Basma Centre for Development and the Social Development Directorate in Jerash.

A week ago, the campaign distributed food packages, blankets, stoves and free fuel vouchers to 60 beneficiaries in Mafraq.
