AMMAN — Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Jumana Ghunaimat on Thursday said that the government was intensifying its efforts to implement job creation plans for young Jordanians, in accordance with His Majesty King Abdullah’s directives.

In coordination with the private sector, a governmental team will continue meeting with young jobseekers in governorates throughout the Kingdom to publicise available job openings and fill vacancies, she added.

Ghunaimat said in a press statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, that Wednesday's visit to the Kingdom's southern area was successful.

The King’s directives focus on communicating with the youth and providing them with job opportunities, she said, underlining that the government would spare no effort in implementing the Royal Directives which also fall under Jordan’s 2019-2020 priorities.

The government is fully aware of the challenges and pressures facing the youth, including joblessness and a shortage of openings which are the main issues that continue to plague them: accordingly, the government's top priority is empowering and recruiting young people, the statement added.

Ghunaimat highlighted the private sector's role as a key partner in creating job opportunities because of the limited number of vacancies in the public sector, noting that the government has provided 3,500 job opportunities in the private sector since the beginning of the year.

The job openings included positions in the industry, textile, hospitality, construction, housing, agriculture, education, medical and ICT sectors, among others. Ghunaimat added that the openings fell within the government’s pledge to provide citizens with 30,000 jobs.

The Labour Ministry continuously announces available openings, she said, calling on jobseekers to visit the ministry's employment directorates or offices to take advantage of them.
