Gov’t orders shisha ban, suspends work of sport centres as of today

AMMAN — Billiard and snooker halls, electronic games centres, sports centres and sports academies are not allowed to open as of Tuesday morning, November 17, until a further notice, under a circular issued by Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Monday.
The owners and/or managers of violated facilities will face an imprisonment term of no more than six months, or a fine of no less than JD500 and no more than JD1,000, or both penalties, according to Circular No.15 based on the provisions of Defence Order No.19 of 2020.
The decision also banned serving shisha in restaurants and cafés, with the owners and/or mangers of the facilities who violate the decision will face an imprisonment term of no more than six months, or a fine of no less than JD500 and no more than JD1,000, or both penalties, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
