AMMAN — Interior Minister Salameh Hammad on Wednesday held a teleconference with governors and listened to briefings from them about the measures applied to deal with the coronavirus and curb its spread, as well as security and administrative issues in governorates.

The minister said that Jordan is on the “right track” in facing the pandemic, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The minister stressed that the government “will not tolerate” any violation of laws or any act that jeopardises citizens’ safety and security, noting that administrative governors have a “major role” in curbing the spread of the pandemic in their capacities as the executive authorities in their respective areas.

As for Irbid, Hammad highlighted the importance of maintaining the same level of progress achieved in the governorate by implementing government measures, praising the role of stakeholders and the commitment of the citizens.
