AMMAN — The Ministry of Health and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (HCD) on Wednesday agreed on the necessary standards and measures related to conducting COVID-19 testing for persons with disabilities.

The HCD, in a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, said that this action aims to ensure effective communication between medical staff and persons with disabilities, noting that the requirements considered the accessibility of quarantine rooms and the privacy of people with disabilities as they are placed under medical quarantine.

The measures also include reporting COVID-19 cases among persons with special needs, offering optimal healthcare to those infected with the virus and providing them with the appropriate services that suit the nature of their disabilities.

The criteria also include the suitable precautionary measures to prevent any coronavirus outbreak in centres that house persons with disabilities, in addition to providing personal attendants for people with disabilities who are infected with the virus.
