AMMAN — President of the Jordanian-European Parliamentary Friendship Committee MP Khaldoun Hina on Monday commended the Sweden’s stances that support the Hashemite Custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem and Stockholm's humanitarian role in offering assistance and support to UNRWA.

During a committee meeting with Swedish Ambassador Alexandra Rydmark, Hina stressed that the positions of Jordan, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, are fixed and unaltered towards the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem and these positions are beyond compromise, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The lawmaker also reviewed the difficult economic conditions Jordan is facing and the regional political conditions, in addition to the repercussions of the pandemic and its negative impacts on the global economy.

Rydmark expressed admiration for Jordan's achievements in various sectors, commending King Abdullah's efforts in realising regional security and stability.

The ambassador also referred to the Amman-Stockholm cooperation on various issues, mainly on the Palestinian cause, stressing that her country supports endeavours to resume Palestinian-Israeli negotiations under international references until the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
