AMMAN — The cooperative sector has to assume its real status as an important contributor to the Jordanian economy, where cooperatives should help in the “Jordanisation” of the agricultural sector, Agriculture Minister Khalid Hneifat said on Tuesday.

Attending the ceremony held on the occasion of the 2018 International Cooperative Day, Hneifat, who deputised for Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, said that the sector can develop when it achieves envisioned goals while implementing productive projects, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Jordan Cooperative Cooperation Director General Awni Shdeifat said that the cooperation directly supervises 1,600 cooperatives with 141,000 members and provides 5,000 jobs that benefit more than 500,000 people.
