House speaker, British Conservative Party delegation talk ties, region

AMMAN — Lower House Speaker Ahmad Safadi on Sunday met with a delegation from the British Conservative Party, underscoring Jordan's commitment to political, economic and administrative reforms. Safadi added that the goal of the reforms is to boost public participation in decision-making and to foster programme-based party parliaments, reported the Jordan News Agency, Petra. Safadi met with the UK delegation led by Lord Risby, and comprising Rob Butler, Bob Steward, Caroline Ansell, Christopher Clarkson and Charlotte Leslie. During the meeting, he highlighted the "sharp and dangerous" decline in support for Syrian refugees. He emphasised the pivotal role of the international community in shouldering its responsibilities towards both refugees and host countries, drawing attention to the significant challenges faced by Jordan along its northern borders. Lord Risby highlighted the importance of supporting Jordan in caring for refugees, praising the efforts of the Kingdom towards reaching security and stability in the region.
