AMMAN – The Independent Election Commission (IEC) will hold a series of meetings in the coming two days with prospective candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

In a statement e-mailed to The Jordan Times, the IEC said the meetings seek to acquaint would-be candidates with the commission’s measures to hold fair and transparent elections on September 20, in addition to answering inquiries related to the Elections Law.

Representatives from the IEC will hold meetings with candidates in Irbid, Karak, Tafileh, Maan, Mafraq, Aqaba, the Southern Badia and the Northern Badia on Sunday, while those who plan to run for elections in the electoral districts of Jerash, Ajloun, Zarqa, Madaba, Balqa, Amman and Central Badia will meet with IEC experts on Monday, said the statement.
