AMMAN — The Information and Communications Technology Association of Jordan  (int@j)) on Saturday said that introducing 5G services in Jordan is a step that enhances Jordan’s competitiveness and supports the investment environment in a number of fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Eid Sweis, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Association, said that Jordan is one of the first countries in the region to invest in these services, noting that 5G services will not only be exclusive to Internet and communication services, but will include a comprehensive set of services that will pave the way for establishing integrated “smart cities”.

Introducing these services came as a realisation of the Economic Modernisation Vision, rendering the Kingdom a regional hub for information and communication technologies, he noted.

He added that the Jordanian telecommunications sector is a major contributor to the Treasury, leading to technological development and introducing the best cellular services to the Kingdom.

5G technology will be a focal point of discussion during the 2022 Middle East and North Africa ICT Forum organised by int@j in partnership with the Ministry of Digital Economy in October.
