AMMAN — Royal Court Chief Yousef Issawi and Minister of Public Works and Housing Falah Omoush on Thursday visited the low-income family housing project in Deir Alla, Balqa Governorate, under directives issued by His Majesty King Abdullah during a visit to the area.

Omoush and Issawi, who is also head of the follow-up committee for the implementation of Royal initiatives, toured the project facilities and were briefed on its progress, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The project's first phase includes building 400 housing units, while the second phase includes the construction of 370 housing units in addition to a major road network, a sewage network and a groundwater drainage network. The second phase also includes extending water and electricity lines to serve the new residential units.

The project aims to give low-income families access to suitable housing in a healthy and safe environment and enable them to secure a decent living.

During the tour, Issawi stressed that the visit comes within the framework of continuous follow-up on Royal initiative projects, assessing the "real level of completion" according to specified timeframes.

For his part, Omoush said that the Housing Ministry’s role lies in overseeing and monitoring the project, reviewing the quality of the work and addressing any challenges that may arise.

He noted that the project is 88 per cent complete, adding that it is expected to be finished in early 2021.

Issawi added that Royal initiatives implemented in all governorates embody the vision of His Majesty to improve social and economic conditions in Jordan and aid the advancement of local communities.
