JNCW holds training on implementing UN Resolution 1325

AMMAN — The Jordanian National Commission For Women (JNCW) on Saturday concluded a training session held at the Dead Sea with a media team, designated to implement United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security. 

The training was attended by 23 media personnel from the military, security and public and private sectors, as well as members of the Jordanian Coalition on UN Resolution 1325, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra. 

The session sought to institutionalise the work of the media team for the implementation of the resolution through a communication strategy drafted by the JNCW, in cooperation with stakeholders, scheduled for launch by the end of October, according to Ashjan Ananzeh, head of communication and advocacy at JNCW. 

Ananzeh said the strategy was created in cooperation with all stakeholders seeking to implement Resolution 1325, noting that it was drafted by Jordanians with consideration of society’s needs. 

The initiative will be implemented over a period of four years with support from the Jordanian Coalition on UN Resolution 1325 among other partners. 

During the three-day event, participants were briefed on the resolution and the steps taken to draft the plan on its implementation.  

The event also addressed the aforementioned communication strategy to allow participants to provide their comments and recommendations for corresponding activities. 

“The meeting seeks to enhance the abilities of media personnel to create media campaigns and construct messages in adherence to the national plan on the implementation of the resolution as well as setting goals and identifying target audiences,” director of the project for the implementation of Resolution 1325 at the JNCW, Sanaa Banawi said.
